National Inventory Report 2011

Department of Industry, Innovation, Climate Change, Science, Research and Tertiary Education, 2013

The National Inventory Report 2011 is submitted to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) as part of Australia's reporting obligations under that Convention and the Kyoto Protocol (KP). It contains national greenhouse gas emission estimates for the period 1990-2011 compiled under the rules for reporting applicable to the UNFCCC and also estimates for 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 compiled using the reporting rules applicable to the Kyoto Protocol.

The principal difference between the UNFCCC and Kyoto Protocol accounting relates to the treatment of the land use, land use change and forestry activities. The UNFCCC inventory also includes reporting of indirect greenhouse gases for which global warming potentials are not available.
