Quarterly Update of Australia's National Greenhouse Gas Inventory: March Quarter 2012

Department of Climate Change and Energy Efficiency, 2012

Emissions decreased in the March quarter 2012, with trend emissions declining 0.2% and seasonally adjusted and weather normalised emissions remaining relatively stable (Figures 1-3). The small decreases in trend over the last two quarters follows three consecutive quarters of positive trend growth. The trend decrease for the quarter was driven by decreases in trend emissions from electricity (see section 2.1), stationary energy excluding electricity (see section 2.2) and industrial processes (see section 2.5). This decrease was partially offset by increases in trend emissions from the transport (see section 2.3) and fugitive emissions (see section 2.4) sectors.
