Business Business Conditions

The World Bank’s Doing Business Indicators provide an assessment of the business environment within a country.

The distance to the frontier scores provide a quantitative measure of the conditions relating to each category. The 'frontier' represent the best performance observed on each of the indicators across all economies in the Doing Business sample since 2005. Scores closest to 100 are an indication of a better business regulatory environment.

The distance to the frontier score provides a view of the gap between a particular economy’s performance and the best performance at any point in time.

The OECD Indicators of Product Market Regulation (PMR) measures the degree which policies promote or constrain competition in areas of the product market where competition is practical.

Countries with scores closer to zero are more 'competition friendly'. While countries with scores further away from zero are 'less competition friendly'.

A competitive product market environment enhances growth in an economy.
